Ada Bojana Beach – on the Idyllic, Untouched Island of the Same Name „Plaža Ada Bojana”

Location: Southernmost tip of Montenegro, about 15 km from Ulcinj, on the border with Albania

If there’s still one true insider tip among Montenegro’s beaches, it’s the beaches on Ada Bojana. This triangular island lies at the very southern tip of Montenegro (15 km from Ulcinj) and is formed by the Bojana River, which splits into a fork right on the Albanian border before flowing into the Adriatic. On the seaward side lies a magnificent, long sandy beach.

The sea water here is warmer than in other parts of Montenegro. In the island’s subtropical climate, a diverse flora and fauna thrives between salt and fresh water. Rare plant and tree species grow here, and numerous rare bird species also call the island home. You could describe the whole island as one large biotope, still largely untouched by nature.

The sand is soft and shimmers in different shades in the sunlight. It contains biologically active substances said to have a positive effect on the human musculoskeletal system.

Good to know: Fans of naturism feel right at home along the 3 km naturist (FKK) stretch here – one of Europe’s best-known naturist destinations, also called the „Amazonia of Europe”. The island is also a genuine insider tip for kiting and surfing.

The sand slopes gently into the water, so both swimmers and non-swimmers feel comfortable here.
