This roughly 400-metre-long, up to 50-metre-wide beach of fine, light pebbles mixed with sand sits directly on the beach promenade of Dobra Voda, about 8 km from the port town of Bar. There are large, paid car parks almost right at the beach. The water gets deep fairly quickly, which makes it better suited to swimmers than non-swimmers.
Part of the beach has restricted access, with facilities reserved for hotel guests only. There are, however, plenty of restaurants and beach bars offering sunbeds, umbrellas, showers and toilets. A range of watersports such as catamaran sailing and jet skiing is also on offer. During the season, a lifeguard watches over the beach.
Good to know: Veliki Pijesak is officially classified as a first-category beach in Montenegro and ranks among the most popular beaches in the Bar region. Nearby, you’ll find good local restaurants like Konoba Galeb serving fresh fish — a great way to end a beach day.
